A group of ten, Bon Secours Associates, Sisters, a Irish Bon Secours Young Adult and a Franciscan friend, have embarked on a 6-week Lenten journey of exploring how we can deepen and expand our prayer lives for spiritual transformation. Our Lenten series is called Sacred Rhythms, and we are meeting by Zoom on Tuesday evenings.
Spiritual disciplines are practices that open us to God’s transforming love and the changes that only God can bring about in our lives. Developed by United Methodist pastor, Ruth Haley Barton, and picking up on the monastic tradition of creating a “rule of life” that allows for regular space for the practice of the spiritual disciplines, Sacred Rhythms takes us more deeply into understanding several key prayer traditions, with ideas for weaving them into everyday life.
Each session includes a video presentation and exercises to help us begin the practices— individually and in a group context. The final chapter puts it all together in a way that will help us arrange our lives for spiritual transformation: a perfect way to grow in faith together during Lent and beyond.
